Politician litigation lookup

Search presidents, members of Congress, and the state, territory, or local officials we cover so far. We list every governor and the mayor of Washington, D.C.; our lists of attorneys general and other statewide officers are not yet complete; and we add state legislators only from each legislature's own official roster. A court case is shown only when the court's own filing names the official in their official role, when we have confirmed the dates they held the office, and when we can follow the case for later action. Personal matters are left out.

What this lookup can say

We can connect a court case to a politician when the case names the office, the politician held that office on the date of the filing, and we can follow the court for later action. We cannot safely connect a case to a person from a surname, a search snippet, an allegation, or a personal dispute.

Why results are limited

An empty list never means “no case exists.” It means we have not found a public record that clearly names the official in their official role, matches the dates they held office, and comes from a court we can follow for later action. Private and personal matters are not covered. We cover every president and member of Congress back to the first Congress. Among state and local officials, our list of governors and the mayor of Washington, D.C. is complete, our lists of attorneys general and other statewide officers are not yet complete, and we add each legislator only from an exact official government roster. An official may appear here before we have found a source for the dates they held office, which we need before matching court cases. State courts, local courts, and administrative matters are not yet included.

Current state legislators we have added: 56 states and territories and 7,518 legislators from official government rosters, reviewed through October 5, 2026; 0 states and territories are still to be added. Being on this list does not confirm when someone held office or mean that their court cases are covered.

State legislator rosters: we checked 56 official state and territory sources on September 2, 2026. We could read 33 of them, we could read only one chamber for 1, and 22 could not be read. These checks are not counted as confirmed legislators or terms of office.
