Source: tables of the House Appropriations Committee (appropriations.house.gov ↗, and for fiscal years 2022 and 2023 the Committee Democrats' site, democrats-appropriations.house.gov ↗). Held as of November 2, 2026. Every file read is listed under "Files read" at the foot of the page.

How these figures were read, and what is missing

The page holds three kinds of figure.

  • Funded in law Projects in the final tables of the enacted appropriations laws: fiscal years 2022, 2023 and 2024, and for 2026 the Commerce-Justice-Science, Interior-Environment and Transportation-HUD laws. House and Senate projects are both in these tables.
  • In a House bill Projects the House committee put in its own bills, for fiscal years 2025 to 2027 and the 2026 bills whose final table is not held. These are not law, and what became law may differ.
  • Requested What House members asked for, from the committee's consolidated request tables. Senate requests are not held (see the notes at the foot of the page).

These three are never added together. A project with more than one requestor is counted in full for each of them.

  • Rows held: 30,849 requests and 38,534 funded projects. Requested: fiscal years 2022 to 2027. Funded in law: 2022, 2023, 2024, 2026. In a House bill: 2025, 2026, 2027.
  • Senate requests are not held. The Senate Appropriations Committee's site refused an automated request on November 2, 2026, so nothing was read from it. Senate projects that were funded are in the funded tables, shown as Senate requestors.
  • No enacted-law table was found for fiscal year 2025, so that year shows House bill tables only. For 2026 the final tables for Commerce-Justice-Science and Interior-Environment (Public Law 119-74, January 23, 2026) and Transportation-HUD (Public Law 119-75, February 3, 2026) are held; those tables were published before the signing dates, so the law's own explanatory statement is the authority. The other 2026 bills, and all of 2027, are House bill tables.
  • For fiscal year 2024 the files linked on the committee's page cover nine bills (Agriculture, Commerce-Justice-Science, Energy and Water, Financial Services, Homeland Security, Interior, Labor-HHS, Military Construction and Transportation-HUD); no Defense table was among them. Where the committee also posted the table as printed in the Congressional Record, that version is used.
  • The fiscal year 2022 and 2023 request tables name the member but not the district or party; the match to a member of Congress is by name and the Congress in session. The 2023 request table has no recipient addresses, so its state is the requesting member's state. Long project descriptions in the request tables are not copied here; the source files carry them.
  • Amounts are as printed. Two projects print a dash instead of an amount and are left out of the totals. Where a funded project lists only a surname that fits more than one member, the name stays as printed and is not linked.
  • Each page of every funded table was checked: the dollar figures printed on the page were counted and compared with the rows read from it. Pages that did not agree are listed below.
Pages that did not agree (6)
  • E22_CJS, page 28: One project (Marquette University, Milwaukee) prints a dash instead of an amount in the source table. It is left out of the totals.
  • E23_INT, page 66: One project (Metlakatla Indian Community, AK) prints a dash instead of an amount in the source table. It is left out of the totals.
  • E23_THUD, page 64: Counted 11 figures, read 10 rows: the extra figure is part of a project title (1,000,000 Gallon Steel Water Storage Tank). Nothing is missing.
  • E23_THUD, page 120: Counted 11 figures, read 10 rows: the extra figure is part of a project title. Nothing is missing.
  • H25_AG, page 37: House bill table, fiscal year 2025: one project on this page was not read (the page has no ruled table). Not law; one row of about 470.
  • H25_CJS, page 65: House bill table, fiscal year 2025: one project of three with the same amount was not read. Not law; one row of about 895.
