Coverage and the official record
What news outlets are reporting about the election, grouped by story, with what is actually on the official record beside each one.
Headlines are the outlets' reporting, not Vote Files findings. Each headline is quoted word for word from the outlet's own website, with the outlet's name and a link. Vote Files does not call races, rate outlets or summarize articles. The "On the official record" panel lists only official documents and official results; when there are none it says so.
We have not published any Election Week coverage yet. From Nov 3 through Nov 10 we check the news outlets every two to three minutes. From Nov 11 through Dec 17, while states certify their results, we check about every 15 minutes.
Race calls by news organizations
Where news organizations have projected a race, each call appears on that state's results page, labeled as the outlet's projection and set below the official status. A projection is not an official result.
No election-week stories are on file yet.
Official actions this week: certifications, proclamations, emergency declarations and court orders
No official record has been found at this time. We are watching for updates.

Governors' emergency declarations are followed only where the governor's office publishes a public news feed that we are allowed to read (checked Sep 25, 2026). Monitored: Alabama, California, Georgia, Hawaii, Maine, Mississippi, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Washington.

How this page works
Vote Files reads the public news feeds that the outlets listed below publish for anyone to use. We follow each site's rules for how often we may check, and we never work around a site that does not let us read its headlines. Headlines are sorted into topics and grouped into stories by the words in the headline alone; a headline can be grouped with the wrong story, and grouping is not a judgment about the story. Official items come from Election Court Watch (federal court documents published on GovInfo), the Official Record Wire (White House and Federal Register), each state's official results files, and official government documents one of our editors linked. Items found by category are labeled as such: we have not determined that they concern a given report unless one of our editors linked them to it.
